Côte Vermeille: France’s sunniest and most scenic corner

Within touching distance of Spain, this stretch of French Catalonia is as colourful as it is mercurial. The region lies against the Spanish border, where the Pyrenees plunge to the sea.

Laroque-des-Albères is a quaint  Catalan village of just over 2,000 inhabitants, enjoying a stunning location, at the foot of the Alberes.

Laroque is well known for its many restaurants, bars and cafes.

It is also close to the shores of the Mediterranean and the tourist resorts of Argeles-sur-Mer and Collioure.
